Silver vase with fisherman and woodcutter
Hayakawa Yoshinobu
A silver vase of a baluster body skilfully decorated in katakiri-bori and ishiarashi with the details inlaid in gold, pink-gold and shibuichi, with a fisherman standing with his oar and a woodcutter sitting on a bundle of firewood discussing their circumstances. The rear side finely carved with Chinese characters explaining about the story of the dialogue of the two. With tomobako inscribed Hayakawa Yoshinobu carved the design of discussion of fisherman and woodcutter, the silver vase made by Shūgyokudõ and the circular wood stand made by Shōzan
Signed and inscribed "carved by uncreative Yoshinobu at Gesseikan on a winter day in the first year of Shōwa" and "made by the master Shūgyokudō in late autumn of the year of hinoe-tora of Taishō"
