A finely carved wood sculpture of a Zen priest holding hōju (a treasure sphere) in his hand, standing on a round woven straw mat with a smile on his face. With tomobako inscribed on the lid a treasure sphere, to the reverse Katsumatō Chōun made this in October, Taisho 9th, the year of kanoe-saru
