Pair of screens with scenery of summer clear stream

Mochizuki Gyokusen (1834 - 1913)

A pair of six-fold screens in ink, colours and gold on paper, depicting a scenery of summer clear stream, the right side screen with a flock of koi carp, one jumping out of the water, a school of ayu (sweet fish) and jakago (stone filled woven baskets for water flow control) near the stakes, the left side one with a kingfisher on a stake watching the herd of funa carp, further more fish beneath the water by the side of bank and a turtle and its young climbing onto land.
